WebApr 3, 2024 · I was copying a directory with its sub directories and files, around 6GB, using robocopy and i was using this command: Code: Robocopy.exe SourceDir DestinationDir /E /w:1 /r:1. I added the switches /w:1 /r:1 because robocopy would stop on some files and show a message for 'access denied' and waiting for 30 seconds and trying again. WebProcess exit code 3. The text output clearly shows ERROR 32. Robocopy failed to honor the /MOV switch (delete from source after copy) because another process had a handle on one file when robocopy tried to delete it. Robocopy returned exit code 3 (new files copied to destination and extra files deleted from destination).

At this point one option would be to start up Process Monitor and check for failing file access, but this being a busy live server, this wasn't really and option because it does slow down the system a bit.
